Garden Competition

A record number of entries were received in the Westland District Garden Competition.

Trophies were awarded to the following recipients by Her Worship the Mayor Maureen Pugh:

Four new categories have been added to the 2013 garden competition, these include:

  • New Gardens less than seven years old
  • Schools/preschools culinary garden/sustainable (herbs, vegetables, and/or fruit trees, composting, bokashi, worm-farms etc.)
  • Special feature e.g. room, courtyard, balcony cactus, formal oriental, water feature children’s garden.
  • Business premises – non-residential (can have paid labour).

Council looks forward to receiving nominations for next years competition. Details will be available nearer to the date.
